Jeremy Brown Bridge gets OK

The city’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted unanimously at its most recent meeting to name Beersheba Street Bridge in honor of Army Specialist Jeremy Lynn Brown, the local soldier who was killed in Afghanistan in May, 2010. He was just shy of his 21st birthday.The motion to pass Resolution No. 1861 was made by Alderman Rick Barnes and seconded by Alderman Clair Cochran and was passed unanimously in a roll call vote.Mayor Norman Rone said the soldier’s family would be notified.“This copy will be transmitted to the Brown family,” said Rone.
