Tennessee Fisher House Foundation president Andrea Lawrence was in town Thursday to speak to the Midway FCEC about the charity, which provides a home away from home for patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The Tennessee Fisher House Foundation is in the process of building such a facility in Murfreesboro, with groundbreaking currently set for August. Lawrence says the Fisher House is a wonderful benefit for our soldiers and veterans.“It’s a true gift,” said Lawrence. “A Fisher House is similar to a Ronald McDonald House in concept in that the families of the military member or veteran can stay in the house when they have somebody in the hospital, and they can stay free of charge.”Typically the houses are 5,000 to 16,000 square feet and are donated by the Fisher House Foundation.
