Heart tribute band to perform

The Main Street Live summer concert series is going “Crazy on You” this year. Concerts begin June 8 with a tribute to Heart.
Little Queen is the only Heart tribute act authorized by Heart to perform their material. Out of Nashville, recent performances include 22 shows at Walt Disney World’s Sounds Like Summer concert series in 2011 where Little Queen played for over 20,000 fans.
“We always like to have at least one tribute band each year and Little Queen goes from the ’70s into the ’80s,” said Main Street McMinnville executive director Carla King.
Their song list includes “Barracuda,” “Magic Man,” “These Dreams,” “Alone,” “Heartless,” “Kick it Out,” “Love Alive,” What about Love,” “Never,” “Nothing at All,” “Crazy on You,” and “Wild Child,” as well as songs by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and The Who.
“We are so blessed to have such a great local talent right here in McMinnville and Warren County, as well as surrounding counties,” said King. “We are so fortunate to live so close to Nashville, Music City, and have access to great bands such as Little Queen and Timeline.”
The lineup was difficult this year. King says it gets more difficult with each passing year.
“Its getting harder each year to pick from the very talented bands we have to choose from. We are contacted weekly by bands who want to perform at one of our  concerts.”
This year’s lineup does come with some distressing news for fans of Rubber Soul, the popular Beatles tribute band that played Main Street Live twice and set a series record for  largest crowd.
“Many people don’t know the members of Rubber Soul are no longer together,” said King. “We knew so many people loved the songs of the Beatles, so we invited Timeline back to do their tribute to the Beatles.”
Last year’s summer concert series had a first with downtown night race. It may return, plus one.
“We hope to bring back our Downtown After Dark 5K race, as well as an additional one-mile run for our opening concert,” said King. “It will be called the Sundop Sizzler.”
From its meager beginnings as a local entertainment draw, Main Street McMinnville has grown. King says it now receives interest from all over the state.
“We are excited about this upcoming season,” she said. “Main Street Live is a much-anticipated event for our community and is gaining in popularity all over the state. As always, we want to thank our sponsors and the many wonderful volunteers we have who come together to make this a successful series.”
Main Street Live is a production of Main Street McMinnville. Concerts are held on the West Lawn of Security Federal on Main Street. Food vendors open at 6 p.m. Concerts begin at 7 p.m.
