Golden named top volunteer

Jeff Golden has never been shy about volunteering his time. Turns out, his volunteer efforts rank among the best in the state.
Golden has been recognized with the Jim Spradley Volunteer of the Year Award, one of the top honors given by the Tennessee Economic Development Council.
A member of the McMinnville-Warren County Industrial Development Board, Golden was nominated by IDB director Don Alexander. Only volunteers who made a substantial impact in assisting economic development were to be considered.
“Jeff’s foresight and leadership were instrumental in developing the Mountain View Industrial Park where three new automotive industries now reside,” wrote Alexander in his nomination letter. “These three industries are scheduled to employ 330 over the next five years and all have located here in the last 36 months.”
Alexander pointed out how Miniature Precision Components expanded to Warren County from Wisconsin. Sansin is a Japanese company affiliated with Yorozu, and DN Plastics expanded here from Michigan.
“In addition, Jeff’s leadership as an unpaid volunteer has also resulted in a new state-of-the-art data center (Litewire) and an industry that produces natural gas compressors (Simpkins Energy),” wrote Alexander.
While Golden is active in industrial development, Alexander pointed out that he serves on a number of other boards too. He is the current chairman of the McMinnville Electric System power board, and also chairs the Saint Thomas River Park Hospital board of directors. He has been grand jury foreman for years.
“He is truly an economic developer,” wrote Alexander.
