City gets its largest Christmas tree ever

The Christmas tree has been placed in historic downtown McMinnville. At 7,800 pounds, the tree is the largest one ever donated to the city. An estimated 2,000 lights will be used to decorate it.
The largest tree the city of McMinnville has ever used as the centerpiece for downtown festivities made its way onto Main Street on Tuesday morning. “It’s a big one,” said Brad Hennessee, Public Works assistant director. “The largest we’ve ever had.”At 7,800 pounds, the cedar tree required the coordinated effort of city employees, McMinnville Electric, Hillis Trucking, and Superior Walls.
