The wait is nearly over for the Standard’s Back to the ’60s Bash at Warren County Fairgrounds. The all-day event is this Saturday with gates opening at 10:30 a.m.
Music, an Elvis look-alike competition, and an inflatable jump park for the kids are just some of the attractions. A cornhole tournament has been added to a lineup that already features a car show, professional wrestling matches, and a salute to veterans.
Activities will be centered around Grandstand Arena, but will spread out to use other parts of the fairgrounds as needed.
“We wanted to hold an event the entire family can enjoy,” said Standard publisher Patricia Zechman. “We realize some families may have had to scale back vacation plans and are staying closer to home so this is a way to get out and have some fun right here in town.”
Vietnam veterans are asked to be our honored guests at opening ceremonies set to begin at 11 a.m. A list of Vietnam veterans will be read during the ceremony.
A two-team cornhole tournament will begin as soon as opening ceremonies are finished. A cash prize based on the number of entries will go to the winning team along with the prestige of having your picture in the paper.
Local entertainment starts at 1 p.m. beginning with the hard-thumping action of professional wrestling. The Pioneerettes, Paula’s Dance Academy and other local groups will begin performing at a separate area at 1:30 p.m.
Elvis impersonator Chuck Baril will perform a salute to Elvis show beginning at 3:15 p.m., followed by the Elvis look-alike contest at 4:15 p.m.
Professional musicians take to the stage at 5 p.m. beginning with Jeremy Stone. He will be followed by Curved Vinyl and The Uncalled For.
Admission is $5 at the door and tickets can be purchased for $4 at the Standard office before the event. Come out and enjoy the fun.
