Free banana splits Friday at newspaper

Free banana splits will be available today from 1 to 4 p.m. as the Southern Standard holds its traditional summer kickoff with Banana Day.The celebration is a way to say thank you to our customers and will take place at our office at 105 College Street. In addition to frosty banana splits, two lucky winners will receive cold cash – $100 for first place and $50 for second.While enjoying your mouth-watering banana split, the Standard is offering great subscription rates.A one-year subscription can be delivered to your home for just 39 cents an issue or $1.17 a week. Bought individually from a newspaper rack, those three newspapers will cost a combined $2.75.To join in the fun during Banana Day, stop by our office from 1 to 4 p.m. Our special cookbook called “Recipes From Our Readers” will be available for $7 with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Share A Christmas Dinner.
