Warren County High School graduate Lakelyn Foutch will share the stage with country music superstar Dierks Bentley tonight during a performance at the CMT Awards.
It will mark the third time she’s danced at the CMT Awards, which will air live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
“It’s a very active show,” Foutch said of her routine with Bentley. “We are dancing to his new single, but I’m not supposed to say any more than that.”
Foutch will be one of eight dancers on stage with Bentley. She said the performance will be about halfway through the CMT Awards, which start at 7 p.m.
Since graduating from WCHS in 2004, Foutch has made a career out of dancing. The former Pioneerette got a full scholarship to the University of Memphis and danced for the triple A baseball team the Memphis Redbirds while she was in West Tennessee.
Her career began to flourish when she moved to Nashville in 2008. She worked as dancer and choreographer for the Nashville Predators for about five years before leaving that job to go on a 37-city U.S. tour with Rascal Flatts.
“I hung up my spandex with the Predators to go on the Rascal Flatts tour,” said Foutch. “I couldn’t have done both. I would have missed about 90 percent of hockey season.”
Working with Rascal Flatts, Foutch danced three days a week for about six months. She said the band returned to Nashville every week.
“They all have families they want to spend time with so we would play Thursday, Friday, Saturday and come home after that,” said Foutch.
As for other endeavors, Foutch said she has appeared in dozens of music videos with country stars like Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, and Brooks and Dunn. She has danced for other artists including Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, and Big and Rich.
“Pretty much every country video that needs a dancer I get the call,” said Foutch.
Foutch also had a part in the Disney film “Million Dollar Arm” which was released in theaters May 16. She was in the scene where a professional football player films an energy drink commercial with dancers in the background. Foutch traveled to Atlanta for the movie shoot.
Foutch has also had several on-screen appearances as a featured dancer in the hit ABC show “Nashville.”
As for her dancing career, Foutch, 28, realizes it will be coming to a close in the coming years and she is working to shift her focus.
“Some dancers can go into their 30s, but 35 is about it,” she said. “That’s why I’m getting more into the choreography aspect of it and I’m looking to get my name out there that way.”
Lakelyn is a Warren County native and the daughter of Buddy and Terri Foutch.
