It’s party time at the Main Street Live summer concert series. Grab something festive and join Four on the Floor this Friday night as the group brings the beach into downtown McMinnville.“We’ve played Main Street McMinnville for a few years now and we really enjoy it,” said Dwight King, lead singer of Four on the Floor.Four on the Floor is a six-member band from Fayetteville. Rounding out the other band members are guitar player Pat Sloan, drummer and vocalist Rusty Reeves, bass player Jim Sloan, guitarist Joe Widner, and keyboard and guitarist Tony Nickelson. The group plays classic songs from the baby boom generation — from the soulful sounds of the 1950s and 60s to the pop, disco and dance tunes of the 70s and 80s — since 1986, and has become a popular band for the beach party theme during summer concerts.Among the band’s extensive song list are “867-5309” by Tommy Tutone, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by the Commodores, “Browned Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison, “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” by King Harvest, “Earth Angel” by the Penguins Baritone, “Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison, and “YMCA” by the Village People. To set a scene of when beach parties were popular, Main Street McMinnville executive directors Brook Holmes and Paige Chastain are encouraging individuals to wear beach party items, such as leis, Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, straw hats, colorful glasses, and bring their antique cars from the 1950s and 60s.American Legion will be accepting non-perishable food for the Warren County Emergency Food Bank during this year’s Main Street Live events.
