Firefighters scatter to avoid speeding car

A teen was hit with a battery of charges after nearly running over firemen and constables who were working an accident on Highway 55 Bypass.The teen driver, Jeffery Logan Chandler, 18, is charged with five counts of reckless endangerment, evading arrest, reckless driving, underage consumption of alcohol, violation of the open container law, and failure to obey police orders. He will face hearing before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke on March 28.Chandler’s charges come for his alleged actions when he approached the scene of an accident on Highway 55 last week. According to sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Vann, the teen failed to stop upon entering the area where they were working a wreck.
