Fire raced through a large riverfront house in Westwood on Monday, leaving firemen battling the stubborn three-alarm blaze most of the day.The house, located off the Barren Fork River on Indian Mound Drive and owned by Carl Booker, suffered heavy damage from the fire which began in the basement and spread all the way to the attic. Firemen arrived around 11 a.m. after neighbors reported seeing smoke. The house was unoccupied and was being sold on the open market by Discovery Realty.“The fire had been working for a long time and had time to weaken the floors,” said McMinnville Fire Chief Keith Martin, noting one wrong step inside the smoke-filled residence could have meant plummeting through the floor.
