Two people were injured Monday when a father struck his son’s vehicle from behind sending him flying into an intersection where he was struck by an oncoming car.Donald Shields Jr. and Judith Hancock were both treated for noncritical injuries following the late Monday afternoon wreck which occurred at the intersection of Crisp Springs Road and Pleasant Hill Road.According to highway patrolman Bruce Pryor, the younger Shields was being followed by his father, Donald Shields Sr., as they approached the stop sign at Pleasant Hill Road. It was at that point, after the son stopped for the sign in his 1993 Toyota pickup, his father failed to yield in his 1997 Mercury Sable.“The impact knocked his son’s vehicle into the intersection and into the path of Hancock’s oncoming 2002 Chevy Suburban,” Pryor said, noting Hancock had the right of way as she traveled southbound on Crisp Springs. “The father was not paying attention and following too closely.”The three-vehicle crash, which happened just after 5 p.m. Monday, resulted in citations against both father and son.
