Employee avoids jail for stealing

A Walmart employee who stole several hundred dollars from the store will get no jail time, but has been warned to stay out of Walmart.The former employee, Ashley N. Wright, 25, of Smithville entered a guilty plea to a single count of theft and was given an 11-month, 29-day probationary sentence by General Sessions Judge Larry Ross. She will be permitted to take a judicial diversion meaning she can have her criminal record erased after she completes her probationary period as long as there is no more trouble with the law during that time frame. She will also be required to pay $831, perform 16 hours public service work and must stay out of Walmart during her probationary period.Wright was charged after Walmart loss prevention caught her on video pocketing money.
