County employees will be seeing a $500 increase in their paychecks while county committee and board members will get nothing extra in this year’s budget.“There’s no way we can do it with this budget,” said Commissioner Carl Bouldin of requests for raises for personnel such as the Election Commission. “I wish we could have raises for everybody, but we just can’t afford it.”Bouldin’s comments came during a Budget and Finance Committee meeting Monday as commissioners prepare for the county’s vote on the proposed budget. Bouldin said that while things are tight, the county will be able to give every county employee a $500 raise and part-time employees a $250 hike.“We felt that would be the fairest for everyone, an across-the-board $500 raise,” Bouldin said. The revelation of the raises came after the committee told election administrator Donna Yates there was no money to increase the salaries of the Election Commission.
