Hillis excels
As nurse
Dustin Hillis, BSN, RN, recently received the Nursing Excellence 2014 Rookie of the Year Award from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., where he works in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit. Dustin is a Warren County native who graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS in microbiology in 2011 and then earned his BSN from Georgia State University in 2012.
Holmes earns
ETSU degree
Merranda Holmes recently graduated from East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine and has begun residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. She is seeking double board certification in pediatrics and internal medicine. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is one of the nation’s highest ranking hospitals in pediatric specialties.
A 2006 graduate of Warren County High School, Holmes graduated from Quillen College of Medicine in the top 10 percent of her class. She was a member of the Alpha Omega Honor Society and received the Dean’s Distinguished Student Award that is presented to the overall outstanding senior who demonstrates the qualities of an excellent physician.
Holmes is the daughter of David and Kim Holmes.
