One game wasn’t enough to decide the tournament champion in the girls 5-6 T-ball league.Big Mo’s forced the “if” game by defeating Eastside Market 36-28 in the first championship game, but Eastside Market rallied back to win 19-17 in the second game to claim the championship.Big Mo’s entered Friday knowing one win wouldn’t be enough to earn a title. Coming from the loser’s bracket, Big Mo’s need a pair of victories to secure the championship.After the first game, it looked like the team was up to the task.Behind a 5-for-5 performance from leadoff Abbie McCormick, Big Mo’s won the first game in extra innings.Trinity Murray, Kyra Perkins, Abbey Moore and Jordan Veach each reached base safely four times in the victory for Big Mo’s.Paige Sweeton, Hailey Simpson and Paisley Wanamaker each had four singles in the loss.After tasting defeat, Eastside Market regrouped to win the second game.Kora Forbes got her moment in the spotlight in the fourth inning when her single scored the game-winning runs.Forbes drove in Sweeton and Jacobs and broke a 17-17 tie after time had expired earlier in the fourth inning.Also finishing with hits for Eastside Market in the championship game were Wanamaker, Simpson, Sweeton, Jacobs, Jazlynn Ward, Grace Young, Kyren Damon, Jalynn Jordan, Lataya Johnson and Kaylee Kinslow.McCormick, Murray, Perkins, Moore, Veach, Alyssa Mossley, Keera Anderson, Jaylie Shenane, Bella Pennington and Trisley Scruggs each had hits in the loss for Big Mo’s.Eastside Market advanced to the championship game by defeating Pioneer Pediatrics 27-16, Cotten Warehouses 21-18 and Big Mo’s 24-23.Big Mo’s beat Gary Steele Karate 20-19 and Volunteer Plus twice, 23-18 and 28-18, on its way to a second-place finish in the girls 5-6 T-ball tournament.
