Turnout has been low for early voting as just four more days remain before balloting goes to the precincts on May 6.According to election administrator Donna Smith, there had been 1,763 people cast early votes as of late Saturday morning. Early voting continues Monday and will conclude Thursday at the early voting room behind the county government building on Locust Street.“That’s very low,” Smith said of the people who have come to the polls thus far to vote in the Democratic and Republican primaries.Compared to early voting four years ago when the same offices were up for grabs, minus a contested public defender’s race which is happening in the Democratic Primary, numbers are low by comparison. In the early voting for the primaries in 2010, there were 3,158 who voted early.
