The discovery of a load of dynamite during the demolition of an old building near Rock Island prompted the bomb squad to be called.According to sheriff’s chief investigator Marc Martin, the discovery was made inside a building on Warren County Park Road.“The building was going to be torn down and they found some old dynamite stored there,” Martin said, noting the explosives looked pretty old. “It’s hard to say exactly how old it was, but there was some estimation it may have been from the ’60s.”Given the volatility of old dynamite, the Tennessee Highway Patrol Bomb Squad was called to dispose of it.“It may have been a thing where the dynamite was placed there years ago and just forgotten about,” Martin surmised, noting there are no plans for any charges. “The dynamite was taken and disposed of safely by the bomb squad.”
