Downtown activities planned for Valentine's Day

Downtown by Moonlight, a popular annual event on Main Street to celebrate Valentine’s Day, has been reined in due to weather predictions. The carriage ride will not be offered this year.
“Due to inclement weather forecast for Friday, Feb. 14, the Promotions Committee has decided not to sponsor the carriage ride for Downtown by Moonlight,” said Main Street McMinnville executive director Carla King.
The cancellation has put a damper on festivities.
“We realize that is a big draw for downtown on that night, but with the weather predicted to be bad and sickness going around we felt it would be best to cancel that portion of the event,” said King. “When we canceled the carriage rides, a lot of the downtown business decided not to participate in the event.”
The event is scaled back, not canceled:
• Collins River BBQ will have entertainment from 5 to 8 p.m. (Southern Flavor at 5 p.m., Trey Binkley at 6 p.m. and James Bell at 7 p.m.)
• The Natural Marketplace will be open until 7 p.m. with Valentine’s Day coffee special and Valentine’s portraits available.
• Et Cetera will be open until 7 p.m.
• Warren County Heritage Museum will be open from 5-8 p.m. with free museum tours and showing a Valentine’s Day movie.
King says visitors to Downtown by Moonlight looking forward to carriage rides will have to wait a little longer.
“We hope to bring the carriage rides back sometime in the spring during one of the Bluegrass Downtown events. Stay tuned,” she said.
