A lifetime Warren County resident and community advocate, a city alderman, a 35 year veteran educator, a noted historian who has worked to place a number of local buildings on the national register, the president and founder of Heritage Alliance, a Main Street Board member, a 20-year leader of the Young Scholar’s Institute, a longtime member of Breakfast Rotary, and a loving husband and father, received the Chamber of Commerce prestigious Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award at the Chamber’s Annual Membership Banquet Monday night. But what sounds like an active group of exemplary citizens is actually all rolled up into one very busy individual — Mr. Jimmy Haley.Last year’s recipient Rachel Killebrew presented the award to Haley at the Chamber’s meeting held at Bridgestone Learning Center. Killebrew lauded Haley for his community service and the boundless energy that fuels it.“The Chamber’s Distinguished Citizen Award was established to honor a McMinnville-Warren County resident who exemplifies exceptional service to our community, to allow one’s peers to recognize these contributions and to proclaim these accomplishments that have added to the betterment of our community,” Killebrew said. “The criteria for this award includes extraordinary commitment to our community through civic and service involvement, distinguished achievement in their chosen vocation, dedication and involvement in their religious life, and one who is of high moral character.
