Tennessee residents who have accumulated unwanted hazardous materials around their homes should mark their calendar and plan to take advantage of Tennessee’s free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event to be held Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Three Star Mall located at 1410 Sparta Street in McMinnville. The event is being sponsored by Warren County Government and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.Household hazardous waste is defined as corrosive, flammable, toxic or reactive materials used in or around your home or garage that are no longer wanted or have become unusable. These types of materials should be properly disposed of and not included with regular garbage. The state will have a household hazardous waste mobile collection site set up in the mall parking lot the day of the event which will allow local homeowners to safely dispose of all those leftover household chemicals, lawn and garden products and automotive materials they didn’t know how to get rid of before. And best of all the environmentally conscious disposal of these materials will cost consumers nothing.
