This Tuesday is the deadline for Park Theatre as far as management hopefuls submitting bid packages to the city of McMinnville.
According to city records on Friday morning, no bids have been received. The deadline is 3 p.m. on June 25. Late submittals will not be considered.
“We really don’t expect any bids until the day of the deadline,” said city administrator David Rutherford. “That’s how it usually works. We have received questions from interested parties.”
Officials sent out a Request for Proposals last month for management firms or organizations which would be interested in managing the facility after completion. An RFP lists what the city expects from its management group.
The proposal asks for information pertaining to background information, services that will be provided, ticket prices, maintenance and custodial services, marketing plans, security, budget, stage crew, references and financial statements, etc.
Once the bids are received, officials will begin the process of reviewing them to narrow the field of applicants. While officials can ask the option of a non-board member, including individuals in the private sector familiar with theatrical industry, only board members will be allowed to remove an applicant from consideration.
As far as the restoration of Park Theatre, the deadline for firms to submit a bid for the construction and renovation is July 11.
Once construction bids are received and one selected, officials will know the exact cost of renovating Park Theatre. Currently, the estimated cost is set at $2 million, which was the number used by officials when the measure was approved by voters last year.
The city reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
