A Green Hill man faces DUI charges after he was caught drunk driving twice in two days, the last time with his 9-month-old daughter in the car.
The suspect, Christopher L. Cripps, 26, faces two counts of first-offense DUI along with citations for violating the due care law and speeding. His charges come after he was charged with DUI on Saturday and Sunday.
His first charge came after he crashed his Ford F150 on West Green Hill Road. According to highway patrolman Ronnie Simmons, Cripps crossed the center line and ran into a ditch before striking a mailbox and a concrete culvert Saturday morning.
The next day, around 6 p.m., Cripps was hit with another DUI charge when state trooper Donnie Clark clocked him in a Chevy Impala doing 77 mph in a 55 mph speed zone on Smithville Highway in the Green Hill area.
“When I approached the driver he appeared to be heavily drugged,” Clark said, noting Cripps admitted to taking three different types of pills. Clark noted he discovered Cripps’ infant daughter was also in the car.
