Couple steals vehicle at mall

A Morrison couple that stole a vehicle from the mall parking lot – and also wrote a hot check on the victim’s account – now faces felony theft and forgery charges.
The couple, Jamie Nichole Powell Seamons, 27, and Lucas W. Hedgecoth, 24, waived their rights to preliminary hearing before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke and were bound to the grand jury on charges of burglary, theft and forgery. Seamons was also jailed for violation of her probation and must serve the balance of her prior sentence.
The two were arrested in Murfreesboro in possession of a stolen 2005 Ford Escape taken from Three Star Mall’s parking lot.
The vehicle was stolen from a mall employee who had noticed earlier in the evening that her keys were missing from the place she had concealed them, but her vehicle was still there. However, when she returned just an hour later, her vehicle was gone. The vehicle was recovered when the two were arrested in Murfreesboro, along with a checkbook belonging to the victim which was found in Seamons’ purse.
It was learned the couple had used the victim’s checkbook to pass checks at Kroger.
“Security cameras at Kroger show Jamie Seamons passing a check,” said McMinnville police investigator Todd Rowland, noting the cameras also show a man resembling Hedgecoth wearing the same clothes he was wearing when he was arrested. The check passed at Kroger was for $35.
