A couple who dined and dashed from J’s Restaurant was caught Monday afternoon when someone recognized the woman from her picture on the front page of the Southern Standard.
The suspects, Tyson Lee Moser, 30, and wife, Amber Lea Moser, 25, are both charged with shoplifting after they skipped out on their lunch bill at the Three Star Mall restaurant.
Their charges come after Mr. Moser claimed he needed to go to an ATM to get money to pay their lunch bill that came to just over $17. However, once he was allowed to leave, he allegedly took off running and disappeared behind the mall.
Police were called to the scene, at which time one of the employees said she recalled seeing the woman before. It was then she remembered where – the front page of the Standard.
Mrs. Moser had appeared as part of the lead story the week before. She and another woman are accused of hitching a ride and then luring the driver onto a back road and robbing him. Lawmen believe the women had accomplices as they left with three men immediately after taking $300 from the victim. Mrs. Moser made bond after her arrest on the felony charge.
With the ID, police were able to catch the Mosers at the Edd Rogers dealership near the mall a few minutes later. She was positively identified by witnesses as the woman who fled the restaurant with Mr. Moser.
