Local residents escaped what could have been a snowstorm of trouble this winter when the Warren County Highway Department was able to secure 300 tons of road salt earlier this week.Road Superintendent Levie Glenn had expressed concern about obtaining salt this winter due to a nationwide shortage. This comes after frigid temperatures and record snowfalls in some parts of the country last winter depleted salt supplies.“I got a letter from the company we’ve bought salt from for probably 20 years and they told me they weren’t going to be able to honor our contract for this winter,” said Glenn. “This concerned me, and I know there is concern all over Tennessee, because we’ve all heard how salt is going to be hard to come by.”Glenn said he contacted the company, Morton Salt based in Chicago, Ill., and expressed his disappointment.
