The county’s Budget and Finance Committee has rejected an attempt to adjust the salary of Animal Control director Kim Pettrey.Committee members met Tuesday to review a recommendation from the county’s Health and Welfare Committee to increase Pettrey’s annual salary by $1,500 – taking the funds from within the department’s existing budget and transferring it to her salary. The amount would be an additional 75 cents an hour.Finance Department director Linda Hillis informed members Terry Bell, Carl E. Bouldin, Ken Martin and Michael Martin that it looks like the money is there but it’s too early in the year to tell. “We are early into the fiscal year,” said Hillis.
