Animal rights advocates cheered Tuesday night as county animal control officer David Hennessee was fired, sent packing by a 3-2 vote in what was a contentious meeting.“They’ve never liked me, never will,” said Hennessee of the many animal rights activists who have called for his firing due to his alleged mistreatment of animals at the county facility. “They make me out to be a villain, a hatchet man, a murderer. But tonight, I walked through the door with my head held high.”Hennessee waved the state and local animal policy handbooks at the dozens of animal rights advocates seated across from him, telling them he had broken no laws.
