County executive, sheriff races may be crowded

If the four candidates who picked up qualifying papers are all serious, the Warren County sheriff’s race could be crowded. As of Friday, the sheriff’s race had garnered some of the most interest with incumbent Sheriff Jackie Matheny looking at three possible rivals at the polls next year. His first battle would come in May during the Democratic Primary when he will likely face former deputy and investigator Bobby Edwards, who has been on the campaign trail for a few months already. He has already qualified to run.The winner of the Democratic showdown would then advance to possibly face two foes, one of whom is familiar to Matheny since he was once his chief deputy and most recently his opponent for sheriff four years ago. Danice Taylor has picked up papers to run as an independent, meaning his election will be in August.
