A man will serve 90 days after he was caught trying to smuggle drugs into Warren County Jail concealed in the sole of his shoe. The man, Gary Wayne Collins, 54, entered guilty pleas before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to charges of introductions of drugs into the county jail and simple possession of drugs. He was ordered to serve 90 days of an eight-year sentence and must pay $1,000 plus costs.According to McMinnville Police Sgt. Ben Cantrell, Collins was arrested at a local motel on an outstanding violation of parole warrant. He was taken to jail and searched prior to being put into the general population.“A search of his person revealed a small plastic bag containing 10 tablets identified as hydrocodone for which he did not have a prescription,” Cantrell said in his arrest warrant against Collins. The officer said Collins was warned at that point if he had any more drugs on his person, he should declare them or face more serious smuggling charges.“He said he had no more illegal items on his person,” Cantrell recalled, noting the claim was soon exposed.
