A cost analysis study of the Blue Building is in.The study is designed to help city officials determine the financial feasibility of renovating one floor of the Blue Building for McMinnville Police Department, leveling the entire Blue Building and constructing a new facility in its place, or constructing a new facility for the police department and leaving the Blue Building in place.Building and Grounds Committee members Aldermen Ben Newman, Ken Smith and Jimmy Bonner will be meeting this Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. to review the analysis done by AEI Architects, Engineers and Planners. The analysis was requested by the full board with a vote of 4-3.What to do with the Blue Building, empty since November 2009, and finding a permanent location for the police department, have been the source of numerous meetings and differing opinions from board members. Alderman Rick Barnes is in favor of renovating the entire building.“I don’t agree with it, but I’ll vote for it in order to get moving forward,” said Barnes, when he voted in favor of the study.
