McMinnville officials have replaced the city’s rigid policy regarding public notice with one that is considered less restrictive but still offers adequate notice. The measure passed 4-3. Vice Mayor Ben Newman and Aldermen Mike Neal, Ken Smith and Jimmy Bonner voted in favor, while Mayor Jimmy Haley and Aldermen Billy Wood and Rick Barnes voted against. The new policy states:• Public notice of all pending board and committee meetings will be posted on the City Hall window a minimum of five days prior to that meeting, excluding special called meetings.• It shall be the goal of the city recorder to have the agendas delivered to all parties of concern five days prior to the scheduled meeting, excluding special called meetings.
