Christmas flooding causes sink holes, service outages

Torrential rain Christmas day opened up a sink hole on Old Smithville Road at its intersection with Yager Road, forcing closure of that section. City road crews hoped to have the road back open by late Saturday although a complete fix of the damage could take a while.
Warren County had a wet Christmas instead of a white one Friday as torrential rain opened up sink holes and snapped water lines leaving several city residents to have a dry Yule Tide celebration.“We had a water line break in Charles Creek,” said city administrator Bill Brock on Friday evening. “That’s where our focus has been. We’ve got about 100 customers in Rolling Hills out of water.
