Caring Hearts United, a local non-profit dedicated to providing for the needs of hospice patients and critically ill children and adults in Warren County, will be holding a very special event today and tomorrow at Three Star Mall.Called the Wonderland of Trees, it is the first of what is planned to be an annual event, and the mall is looking wonderfully festive with the presentation of Christmas trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses, which will be auctioned to raise money for Caring Hearts United. The public viewing and silent auction, which began yesterday, will continue today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tomorrow’s event will also include entertainment on the mall’s main stage, with local performers including Brad and Beth Harris, Jonathan and Shelly Womack, Kelly Walker and Only Through Christ. There will also be a number of children’s activities, including Write a Letter to Santa, Make a Christmas Ornament, and a Christmas Toss. Children can participate in these activities for a small donation of $1 to $2.Melinda Breedlove, one of the event organizers, was on hand yesterday for the official beginning of Wonderland of Trees.“It’s going just wonderfully,” she said fittingly.
