A man faces domestic assault charges following at an altercation with his girlfriend over Christmas presents on Christmas day.
The suspect, Justin Redmore, 25, is charged with domestic assault and violation of a bond condition and will face hearing Feb. 16 before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke.
Police responded to the couple’s home on Oriole Drive just after 9 a.m. Christmas day in reference to a physical domestic call.
“I made contact with them and Mr. Redmore advised he had gotten into a verbal argument with his girlfriend over Christmas presents,” McMinnville police officer Eddie Colwell said, noting Redmore claimed the incident was completely verbal and he did not hit his girlfriend.
Her story was different from his, specifically when it came to the physicality of the confrontation.
“She said he slapped her across the face during the argument, causing her to fall and scrape her right elbow on the wood bed frame,” Colwell revealed, noting he saw a scrape on her elbow, supporting her story.
She also disputed Redmore’s claim their fight was over Christmas presents. She said it was something more permanent that had nothing to do with what was under the tree.
“She said the argument was over packing his belongings and wanting him to leave,” said Colwell, noting the victim said she had been hit in the mouth by Redmore the day before. The officer said she still had busted lip when he was talking to her following the Christmas day incident.
