Be sure to wear your red, white and blue as Junior Auxiliarys Yankee Doodle Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. today. The event is free and open to all children, birth through fifth grade. From Midway to Morrison, local residents will show their patriotic pride with Fourth of July celebrations throughout the county today.It promises to be a day filled with festivity with baby pageants, softball games, fireworks, and the regular installment of Main Street Live beginning at 7 p.m. on the West Lawn of Security Federal.While the Dr Pepper Fireworks show at the Civic Center won’t take place until Saturday, fireworks are planned tonight at Centertown, Morrison and Midway.Activities get under way today bright and early in downtown McMinnville with a pancake breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. Just don’t eat too much because the Stars and Stripes Fun Run and Walk starts at 7:30 a.m.Midway is the next community to begin its celebration with the opening ceremony scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Traditional favorites like the pie contest and Mr. and Miss Midway Pageant will follow.In Centertown, there are sure to be some sore muscles after the old-timers softball game at 4 p.m. Morrison has added a cornhole tournament and talent show to its regular activities. Organizers are hopeful several members of the community put their talent on display for the eventwill set for 6 p.m.
