A couple was given probation after they were caught on surveillance cameras stealing aluminum cans from the recycling bin at West Elementary. The two, Donna Taylor and Douglas McCrary, were both placed on probation for a year and must perform 24 hours public service work. They were also directed by General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to make $7 restitution for the cans they stole and were warned to stay off the school property.According to school resource officer Jarvis Johnson, a red Chevy was captured on nighttime video outside the school. A review of the video showed the woman, identified as Taylor, standing by an open trunk while the man, identified as McCrary, went under a small fenced area where the cans for recycling were kept.“The man can be observed taking the aluminum cans that were in plastic bags and handing them to the woman standing at the vehicle where she placed them in the trunk,” the warrant reads.Once the identities of the suspects on the video were determined, Johnson said he went to South Central in McMinnville and found out Taylor had cashed in the aluminum cans for $7.80.
