A drunk man who stripped down to his underwear before threatening a woman will serve two months in jail.
The man, Jeffery Jeremiah Byrge, 30, entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to charges of vandalism and domestic assault. He was ordered to serve 60 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence, enter the batterer’s intervention program, undergo a drug and alcohol assessment, and make $342 restitution.
According to McMinnville policewoman Rachel Harrell, Byrge showed up at the victim’s residence already intoxicated.
“He came to her house drunk and took off his clothes down to his underwear,” Harrell said in her warrant against Byrge. “The victim told him that was inappropriate around her kids and tried to get him to leave.”
Byrge then jerked the phone cord out of the wall and hit her in the chest. She was able to get him outside and locked the door behind him. However, when the victim looked out to see if Byrge had gone he came after her again, this time kicking the door open.
He then chased her to the bedroom where she grabbed another phone. He broke the phone, but she was able to get to another phone in the meantime and call 911.
