Local attorney Jean Brock lost a close race to incumbent General Sessions Judge Bill Locke earlier this month but she led the way in spending, edging out her victorious opponent by close to $1,000.According to the Pre-General Election reports filed with the election commission just before the Aug. 7 balloting, Brock reported spending $9,407 in the weeks just before the election. That was about a thousand more than Locke who spent $8,495 during that same period. The spike in spending came as a result of a last-minute mailing campaign where both spent several thousand dollars sending mailers to most houses in Warren County. Locke reported spending about $4,000 for mailers, while Brock spent a little over $3,000.
