Boling wrecks during high-speed chase

A high-speed chase ended near the old Red Dog Saloon on Tuesday afternoon when the fugitive lost control in a curve and struck an oncoming vehicle.
“He was up on two wheels and coming right at us,” said Teresa Lewis, who was heading toward McMinnville on Nashville Highway with her husband, Jimmy, when their vehicle was hit. “We didn’t have time to do anything.”
Her husband suffered minor cuts from the impact which hit on the driver’s side of their vehicle. The oncoming vehicle side-swiped them as the fugitive struggled to regain control.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle, Brandon Boling, was wanted for parole violation. He now has charges of evading arrest and vehicular assault pending against him. He is also a suspect in a number of local burglaries as lawmen found allegedly stolen items in the wreckage of his vehicle.
His passenger, Jack Howard, has also been detained after the pair bolted from their vehicle after it came to rest in a field near the scene of the crash.
According to Sheriff Jackie Matheny, the chase began when investigator Steven Carpenter fell in behind Boling.
“He had been working some burglaries in the area and knew Mr. Boling was wanted for parole violation,” Matheny said.
Boling accelerated in an attempt to get away from the officer as soon as Carpenter tried to stop him. The chase traveled down Nashville Highway where Boling lost control in the curve at the Crisp Spring Road intersection. It was as he tried to correct his vehicle that he side-swiped the Lewis vehicle before crashing through a wooden fence. The vehicle came to rest in an open field. The two were caught just a few yards away after they reportedly tried to flee on foot.
The pair were being booked into the jail at press time Tuesday and a decision was still being made on what to charge them with. The discoveries in the wreckage could mean additional charges of burglary and theft against Boling.
