The Warren County Board of Education voted to name Bobby Cox the new director of schools last night at its regular monthly meeting.
Results from the meeting were just becoming available at press time last night.
Cox emerged from a field of 10 candidates to become one of three finalists who were granted interviews last week. He was the only local candidate to apply.
Cox has been with the school system for 20 years, at the central office for 12 years, and was promoted to assistant director of teaching and learning last year.
He will be replacing Director of Schools Dr. Jerry Hale, who will be retiring after this school year. Hale announced his retirement plans well in advance to give board members plenty of time to find an adequate replacement.
