Blood drive to be held to honor Spenser Hill

Blood Assurance is holding a blood drive and Be the Match marrow registrations in honor of Spenser Hill this Friday, Nov. 7, at Billy’s Restaurant, 2822 Nashville Highway from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Spenser is leukemia-free following a successful bone marrow transplant in May. Blood Assurance is celebrating his being cancer-free with this drive in his honor.Blood Assurance serves 46 counties in a five-state region, and is the sole provider of blood and blood components for 70 healthcare facilities, including River Park Hospital. Over 440 blood donors are needed every day in order to adequately supply the region served by Blood Assurance with lifesaving blood.“As the holidays approach, the need for blood increases substantially,” said Billy’s Restaurant owner Darryl Bouldin.
