City administrator Bill Brock has tendered his resignation from McMinnville government.
The announcement came during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Tuesday night.
The resignation is effective Feb. 1.
The resignation comes as the city has opened applications for the city administrator job and 21 people applied, including Brock. No interviews have been conducted yet.
In announcing his resignation, Brock said he wasn’t being forced out, but that now is the time for him to step down. He served as McMinnville’s Public Works Department director for 26 years and as city administrator for four years.
Prior to accepting the city administrator job, Brock was assured he could return as Public Works director if it didn’t work out, but he’s decided not to exercise that option and leave government altogether.
