A summer trial has been put on hold for a man accused of opening fire on fishermen on the lake behind his home. The trial is off the docket pending the results of a mental evaluation of the alleged shooter.The defendant, Floyd Kirby Jr., 75, had his case placed on hold recently by Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley upon the announcement Kirby will undergo a battery of mental evaluations to ensure he was competent for his actions at the time of the crime and that he will be competent to help in his defense. The evaluation could take several months.
