After years of inactivity historical group dissolves

The Warren County Historical Commission met for the last time Oct. 2 to officially dissolve itself. The commission had been inactive since its last recorded meeting in 2004.
The original purpose of the historical commission had been to survey veterans and preserve their stories for future generations.
Funds amounting to over $3,600 remained in the organization’s treasury for the past eight years under the Warren County Historical Commission name. Those funds have now been transferred to Heritage Alliance to pay for projects that will recognize and honor veterans.
Heritage Alliance is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization that acts as the chief preservation agent for the county. Heritage Alliance relies on contributions, corporate sponsors, grant opportunities and public funding to preserve the past. The alliance works closely with state and local agencies to help further the cause of preservation.
The Warren County Heritage Center and Museum is located in downtown McMinnville at 113 East Main Street. Museum hours are Sundays from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and also by appointment.
