A McMinnville resident died Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash in White County.
Kyle Adcock, 32, was killed in the accident that took place at 6:49 a.m. on a two-lane stretch of Highway 70E between Sparta and Crossville.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Adcock was traveling toward Crossville in a 2011 Chevy pickup when his vehicle slipped off the right side of the road. Adcock overcorrected which caused his pickup to begin sliding sideways.
It left the road on the left side, traveled through a yard, and struck a large tree. The pickup then rotated around the tree, went airborne, and struck another large tree where it came to rest.
“We was wearing a seatbelt, but there was no way he could have survived that crash,” said Highway Patrol Sgt. Jimmy Jones. “Speed was definitely a factor. He had to be moving pretty fast. It threw large clumps of dirt 60 feet away from the second tree he hit.”
Sgt. Jones said Adcock was driving a truck for Brewer Amusement and was on his way to the Pigeon Forge area to service some of the company’s machines. The wreck happened just before Adcock reached Bon DeCroft School.
Sgt. Jones said he doesn’t know what might have caused Adcock to leave the road initially.
