World-class triathlete Bruce Gennari is scheduled to return to Warren County in August to compete in the annual McMinnville City Triathlon.Gennari is a multiple past winner of the event who is currently ranked 30th in the world, according to Paige Northcutt, one of the triathlon organizers.Gennari may not be able to outswim a shark, but he’s quick in the water and like a gazelle on a bike. He’s finished our local triathlon in as fast as 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 41 seconds.“It gives our triathlon more exposure and greater credibility when an athlete like Bruce is among the competitors,” said Northcutt. “He’s doing this as a warm up to the world championships.”Registration is currently underway for the triathlon, which is set for Aug. 19 at 8 a.m. It begins with a 400-meter swim at Gilley Pool before shifting to an 18-mile bicycle race that takes competitors to the Country Club area and back.
