This was a game that went down to the wire and Kapri Talley makes a strong statement on defense against Ella Bond, who scored two points in regulation for the Lady Tigers.

In the Irving College 36-33 overtime win versus the Lady Bulldogs, Jillian Frankman carried her team through the final two minutes and led the Lady Tiger offense with all seven Irving College points.
After she scored a basket, Frankman proceeded to knock down 5-of-6 shots from the free-throw line.
MaKenna Mason and Clara Brackley combined for the Eastside Lady Bulldogs’ four points in overtime. Brackley had been scoreless throughout the game until the fourth quarter. Brackley was in the right place at the right time Friday night when she rebounded a shot in the lane with seconds to play.
With no defender near her, Brackley put a shot back into the air and it fell through and tied the game at 29. Time expired before Irving College could inbound the ball and the game was headed to overtime.
Irving College fell behind to start overtime and the two teams were on edge as the seconds ticked off the clock. The Lady Tigers pursued the ball and were not interested in anything other than winning. The defense stepped up at just the right time and Frankman cemented the win from the free-throw line.
Mason from Dibrell led all scorers with 17 points.
These two teams were evenly matched. The Lady Bulldogs returned their entire team from last season and picked up Mason from last year’s championship team.
On the other side of the floor, Irving College entered the game only having lost one player from last year’s lineup.
In one of the most anticipated games of the tourney, Irving College came out firing and jumped out to an early 11-7 lead. Hannah Lee started off hot and she buried a 3-pointer from way back. Frankman scored four of her 14 in the opening period.
Eastside struggled on offense and looked to rely on new teammate Mason. She carried the offensive load in the first and scored all seven Lady Bulldog points.
In the second quarter, Frankman and Lee combined for six points on a pair of 3-point bombs. The Irving College defense stepped up and slowed down the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Tigers limited Eastside to just four points. Lexi Loader and Mason shared the load in the second as the half approached.
The third quarter of offense disappeared and almost nothing fell the Irving College way. Emily Fults connected on 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.
On the Eastside end, Kapri Talley and Grayson Hillis added to the Lady Bulldog score and helped Eastside claim the lead by the end of the third.
The crowd was on its feet and the fourth quarter was a heavyweight fight no one wanted to lose. The two teams locked horns and the Lady Tigers escaped the jaws of the Lady Bulldogs for a 36-33 win to advance to the championship game Saturday night with results not available at press time.
