Womack Printing’s pressing defense was able to keep Maintenance Systems in check Saturday, as they took a 33-17 victory in boys 10-11 Jaycee action at Bobby Ray Elementary.
“It wasn’t our best game,” said Womack Printing coach Jimmy Martin. “We’re always trying to improve.”
Jonathan Lara was top scorer for Womack Printing with 11 points, closely followed by Ty Morton who had 8. Aiden Miller scored 6 points and Parker Smith and Grady Burnett both had 4 points apiece.
“We only have four players,” said Chris Rippy, coach of Maintenance Systems which borrowed one from Carol’s Caterers. “We are a new team and played with a lot of heart.”
Hitting hoops for Maintenance Systems were Jeremy Brown with 7 points, Traice Crosby 6, Zach Perry and Silas Martin with 2 points each.
If foul shooting percentage was the gauge for who won the contest, Maintenance Systems went 4-of-6 for 67 percent. Womack Printing had more opportunities but just went 1-of-8 for 12.5 percent.
