The WCHS Lady Pioneers fell to White County 57-47 in a close game Tuesday night.

Warren County trailed Sparta each quarter by a few points, but could not catch up in the last quarter. They ended the first quarter trailing 13-10. In the second quarter, Sparta widened the gap going into halftime ahead 27-23.

The third quarter ended with the Lady Pioneers behind by 9 points with the score being 38-32. Warren County worked together and scored 15 points in the last half, but it was not enough to pull ahead.

Fouls played a large role in this game. The Lady Pioneers had multiple fouls called against them resulting in White County shooting free throws or getting the ball back. Many of the fouls called against Warren County did not go the same way when White County roughed up the Lady Pioneers.

WCHS juniors Kyra Perkins and Savannah Winfree both fouled out. The fouls in the second half gave Sparta the advantage over WCHS.

White County had a total of 21 free throw attempts and made 15 of them, compared to the Lady Pioneers attempting 16 and only making 8. Warren County fought hard until the final buzzer, but could not seem to gain enough momentum to pull ahead.

Perkins led the Lady Pioneers with a total of 17 points.

The Lady Pioneers season record is now 4-2. In their next game, the Lady Pioneers will face Sigel at home Friday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m.
